Condena en USA a uno de los asesinos de Victor Jara

Yesterday, a jury found Florida resident Pedro Pablo Barrientos Nunez liable for the torture and murder of  Víctor Jara during the Pinochet military coup that upended his country.  As The New York Times writes:  "Mr. Jara, then 40, was an accomplished songwriter and theater director....  His songs of poverty and injustice, rooted in his own humble origins in the Chilean countryside, are still popular today. He is often described as the "'Bob Dylan of South America.'"

Barrientos was ordered to pay $28 million in damages-$8 million in compensatory damages and $20 million in punitive damages-to Victor's family.
